Releasing creativity and being your best self
I was thrilled to deliver an active music making program at Thumbs Up in 2016. We delivered two performances celebrating community and connection.
A big thank you to Thumbs Up, Hutt City Council and Creative Communities for your support.
1. Petone Working Men's Club, 15th November
2. Petone Library, 6th December
We met weekly to make music and create song together that we then shared with the community.
Aranui formerly known as Park Road are a delightful day service as part of Idea Services Wellington. We have been working together since 2013.
When I first started we developed a weekly drama program including members from Alpha another day service providing opportunities for drama .
In 2015 I just so I wanted to change concept from drama to music efficacy reach for the participants in to make it more accessible
This is been incredibly successful with creating friendships and opportunities for song/instruments interaction with members of the group who previously declined to engage.
Some of our past projects have included:
- Multicultural variety show
- Our favourite songs
- Walk together
- Sing it out Loud Library Sessions
John Paul and I present Friday morning music at Thumbs Up. It is a robust, playful presentation of music with movement and instruments.
We tune into the group to create music that lifts and creates a jolly Friday morning.
We integrate the use of:
Balls, both small and large fitness balls
This is one of the highlights of my week
In 2014 with the support of Hutt City Council I ran workshops across the Hutt region running consecutively for two groups of participants.
Community singing for 30's and under: ran for twelve weeks finishing with a collaborative performance at Thumbs Up in Petone.

We jam packed the room with participants and sang our hearts out for an hour and a half, we dance, laughed and had scones.
