St Catherine’s College & O’Shea Shield

Once a year students from Catholic schools across New Zealand compete for O’Shea Shield and Cup in the end of term one, of the school year.

I have been a director of O’Shea Drama for St Catherine’s College, Kilbirnie over the last four years.

Primarily I facilitate the students to create a five minute drama based on one of six statements selected from the bible, based on an overall theme, this year it was faith. We work at this over a series of weeks to create a multi layered and dimensional performance.

The team is only allowed 5 performers and 1 support person, in this time we utilize all the skills the girls have to create the drama with the strongest possible message.

The girls have won twice and placed high twice and overall the school has won the shield over the last three years.

It has been a delight to work and play with inspiring young women.
