Mastering Group Connection

Time flies, you think to yourself surely it hasn't been that long? Then you realize, it really has been that long. It's time to get together. Do you want to connect over coffee?

I had the great blessing of facilitating our Mastermind Group at the Hutt Chamber of Commerce a few years ago, and emerging out of that was this lovely group of people that continued to meet regular even when we wee no longer members of the Chamber of Commerce. We used to connect every month, then we started to meet every couple of months and then twice a year and then just once a year.

The most important part of gathering it's not just the meeting each other but what you do when you see each other. I didn't want to just do our regular meeting thing. How have you been? What have you been up to? Especially after so long.  I wanted to utilize some tools from my toolbox. I pulled out the Jar of Marvelous thoughts and I pulled together some questions and provocations to prompt our group today to find out how they've been over the last year and this year?

Strangely enough, time sometimes does not move that fast. In the world of most of us or maybe it's because we, as a collective world, have chosen to slow down and be present with ourselves or with families. It didn't seem to matter whether we met each other a year ago or more or just yesterday.

It was an absolute delight to gradually unfold the stories with the people sitting around the table and to hear about the things developing in their lives.

It's very charming how many times our stories cross over each other and relate to the other experiences that we have in our life, but also in the ways that it helps us to have an appreciation or understanding of things. Also to mirror life and the ways that we can make changes in our lives. That's also one of the beauties of coming together in our small mastermind group.

I was reminded today of how uplifting Dominique can be. The group can allow you the space to grow through experiences you might be having and reflect with positivity and kind advice.

Ambreen reminds me of resilience and determination. But also that wonderful brain she has applying to IT technical things.   It is brilliant when they pop to the surface for us to share he joy in.

Claudia is firmly aware of her direction she is taking over the next year.  I have always admired someone who can make a goal and create it. They work back from it and I can see how she is going to achieve this, wonderfully.

And me, while I'm in the birthing place. Generating, creating new, giving new life. I'm trying to create life alongside my disability and bring some joy to lived experiences for others and myself.

Never hesitate to connect with your people even if it seems like to long. It's never to long and it always means so much.
